Black Girl Beauty Hacks

Hey guys,

It’s been a very long time since I’ve made a post. I’m sorry about my absence, I’ve been very caught up in school work- but anyway I am back with 5 simple but effective beauty hacks, which I think all black girls should know about! A beauty hack is simply a way of doing something that is going to save you either time, money or effort. I really wish someone shared these with me when I first started wearing makeup, so I’m sharing with you all. Here are a few of my favourites..☺️

1. Use brown eyeshadow as a contour

Using a dark brown or orangey brown eyeshadow is a perfect substitute for a powdered contour. Most quality eyeshadows are naturally pigmented so start by using a small amount of product and build up to the desired look. This also works best if it is a matte eyeshadow as oppose to shimmery eyeshadow. This is my go to every time I run out of countour.

This also could be another alternative for dark chocolate girls who cannot find a contour shade to their likings or skin tones

2. Use a gold eyeshadow as a highlighter

A pale gold or any warms metallic palette eyeshadow to highlight can be just as effective as a normal highlighter. This is especially great to use for practicing highlighting before investing In an expensive highlighter. This is also good for everyday use as we all know how expensive make up can be!

3. Preventing facial scars

Most acne scaring start out as small unflattering bumps and pimples that we can’t wait to get rid of but unfortunately end up leaving a scar when we decide to deal with them ourselves. We love to keep our beautiful dark skins smooth and clean from scarring hence why Tea Tree Oil is perfect for the job. This oil is antimicrobial meaning that they kill micro organisms and prevent their growth.  Applying this to the pimple will harden it allowing you to get rid of it without any scarring.

If you do have any dark spots that you do want to get rid of, another household item which is great is toothpaste. Using toothpaste to even out the dark spot to your normal complexion is easy and affordable . Do this regularly until the dark spot has disappeared. You can Leave on for as long as you like to get amazing results.

4. Create your own BB cream.

For those of you who don’t know, a bb cream is a mixture of predominantly moisturizer and foundation together. They’re light and practical for everyday use. There are so many bb creams but so few in medium to dark shades especially in the UK. I find that these are great for a subtle ‘no make up’ makeup look. It is extremely easy to create your own bb cream. This is a mixture of 50%foundation along with 20% of your favourite face cream, 20%sunscreen, and 10% Glycerin (available at most local drug stores). Not only will you be creating your own amazing bb cream but this will save you money and be great for your skin.
